The blending of Christ's divinity and humanity tells us what Jesus thinks of this world and especially humankind. "By coming to dwell with us, Jesus was to reveal God both to men and to angels. He was the Word of God -- God's thought made audible." Jesus took a personal interest in us.
How personal? If we empathize with other people to the point of merging our own identities with theirs, we care about them as much as we care about ourselves. Because we no longer place our interest above theirs, helping them is purely altruistic. Becoming human came at a huge personal cost of great humiliation for Christ, but He did so in order to be personally involved in rescuing us from sin. What love is this?
